a friend of mine just had to have 2 schwinn sting-rays from my collection, so with $700 in my pocket and some extra space i decided i want another track bike, after looking on all the craigslist (within 300 of me) and not finding anything that really exited me, and with my dream track bikes (faggin, gazelle, eddy merckx) priced quite a bit more than $700 and or very hard to find out of the question my friend told me to check out the bianchi website, i told him i have a pista already he said "not one like this!" they discontinued the chrome model, replacing it with a black and chrome model, with 70s era lettering, what a difference! and they changed the crankset to the new fsa felice gimondi crankset, looks alot better than the truvativ crankset(yuck!).so i ordered one from my local bianchi dealer, its on backorder but i sould be here mid-late november. im upgrading the pedals to mks sylvans with matching clips and straps, mks chain tensioners, EAI cog, and vittoria rubino pro tires. i will post pics as soon as it gets here!:thumb: here is the pic from the bianchi website.

I already saw this long time ago, but yeah... I like it better than but seriously, as most of you guys know, I have a thing against their unicrown forks.

Squirrelli 10-20-10 07:22 PM

Meh..

squeegeesunny 10-20-10 07:33 PM

$700, you can do better... Hell I wouldve saved up alittle more and gotten the motobecane team track.. hella better parts, better frame, better price.

I think the new Pista looks great.

bryyando 10-20-10 11:34 PM

If you already had a pista you could've just put the money you spent into your old one. If it's old enough it would have tighter geometry to boot.

Dr. Banzai 10-20-10 11:40 PM

$700 buys me a lot of cheese.

oneeyedhobbit 10-21-10 12:16 AM

F*ck the haters. I think it looks classy, and if you enjoy it why not?

There is enough obsession on bf ssfg that I swear its sponsored by BD. I rarely (in fact, more like never) see road or mtb cyclists rave about this miraculous company, and frankly if you do some digging I think the consensus is that BD's quality control is somewhere between sub-par and non-existent. This is fine and perhaps really manageable if you have the skill-set and tools to do some wrenching or drop the cash at your lbs. I can't help but see a lot of hypocrisy, however, between the "hey guys support your lbs so don't buy from r.e.i./erik's because its the little guys trying to make it" crowd and the, "hey guys, we know BD attempts to steal proven geometries and slash the costs with qc oversight but whatevs" clamor.

ubringliten 10-21-10 12:49 AM

That's nice! I am very close in getting that same bike.

adriano 10-21-10 01:14 AM

thats a waste of money, but thanks for supporting the economy.

Leukybear 10-21-10 01:24 AM

Too many people own these... like said above there's better alternatives...

peach-picker 10-21-10 10:32 AM

im very happy with my choice!

i checked out all the BD bikes, the motobecane team track cost $100 more than the pista, and does not have a 53-53.5 top tube model they go from a 52 all the way to a 54 with nothing in the 53 range, my kilo has a 52.5 and feels a tad small, my masi has a 54.5 and feels a little big so i really wanted a 53.5, also the motobecane looks a little plain to me (in my opinion) personally i like alot of decals, the motobecane just didnt speak to me. however it is a great bike for the money, i really like the components it comes with. i leaned toward the pista because it has a clean sort of vintage look, and being that i am completely satisfied with my chrome pista, i thought it would be nice to add another color to the fleet.:)

PedallingATX 10-21-10 11:13 AM

so...you pick peaches for a living? How is that?

whitekimchee 10-21-10 11:23 AM

As a Pista owner (07 chrome) I would agree. But why two of the same bike? little redundant wouldn't you say?

I'm not too crazy about the colorway on the new Pista

fxdgrjedi 10-21-10 11:36 AM

Nice pista. Haters gonna hate. You are gonna love it. Here's why:

IMHO, the pista is quite a bit better than any BD bike. It comes spec'd with better componets all around so there is no need to upgrade components (except for maybe the pedals) right from the getgo. Seems the people are always upgrading the crap out of their kilotts and hours because the parts either suck or break or are ugly. Why spend $500 more upgrading a BD bike when you can buy a pista for $700 and just start riding. People rag on the price of a new pista, but upgrades on a $350 BD bike end up costing more than a new pista.

Plus, the bianchi has better butted tubing and the BEST handling of any "tarck" bike below $1000. Seriously. It is fast, responsive, can be thrown around, and still stays comfy for a good long 3+ hour ride.

Man I miss my pista already. Had to ditch it because it was just too small for me at 57cm.

Edit: dang, that new crank and chainring looks awesome!
And, even though the unicrown fork is pretty ugly, it's light and it actually started growing on me after a few months. I don't mind it at all now.

sfreywagg 10-21-10 11:37 AM

sell the old one for cheap?

Edit: to me, that is.

Any pista's seatstays will beg to differ....

yeah yeah we all know that this has affected some Pista frames and it's been documented on BF. And as much as this should never be an issue I'm pretty sure it's only been a problem on very few frames.

That's why stems are made in different lengths. Getting a stem that is +/- 1cm is no big deal.
