Strange Click

So I have a Killo stripped that I have changed the bottom bracket to a Sugino 103, have a Sugino Messenger crank set and using Shimano PD-A530 pedals. Recently I have started to notice a click in the left pedal directly under my clip. I only hear the click as I transition from the upstroke to the downstroke on the left side, when I am really pushing hard on the pedal. If my description doesn't make since please let me know, if anyone has any ideas on what the issue could be please tell me.

are you riding a FG of a SS? if its a single speed I had a similar click on my SS and it ended up being the free wheel pawls disengaging and then reengaging the wheel at the top of the stroke. I swapped out the free wheel for a 10$ one I got from amazon and it went away.

Can you feel any play in the pedal? Hold the crank arm with one hand and grab the end of the pedal with the other. Pull the pedal up and down and see if you feel any play between the pedal body and spindle. If so, you need to adjust the pedal bearings.

Ride it without clipping into your pedals - best to use normal shoes for this - to isolate whether or not it is the pedals or the crank/bottom bracket. If it is still clicking, check tightness of crank and bottom bracket. I had the same problem on two different bikes and it turned out to be a loose bottom bracket on one and the pedals on the other.
