2011 Masi Speciale commuter

Just finished a Masi speciale commuter build. Bike was built to train during the winter. I was skeptibale of this bike at first. I tell you what, the thing rides great. Its taken my spin to a different level also. I really Enjoy Riding it.

Specs,

2011 Speciale commute frame (was a complete bike)

Ritchey 6061 Bars, Stem, and post

Sram 900 carbon levers
Sram Rival calipers
Sram Rival Crank arms
Origin-8 Chainring
Weinmann Wheels
Formula Hubs
DT Spokes and Nipples
Maxis detanator tires
Masi Saddle

Let me know what you guys think. Im thinking of changing the wheels. I got my eyes on the Mavic Ellipse's

Looks good. I'm sure those wheels are fine. I do not know what your winters are like but you may want fenders. Anyways, it's a cool bike.

That's a nice lookin' bike. I'd definitely put some fenders on there if you're going to be taking it out in the slop during the winter. I really like the Sram road goodies on there.

I don't know what skeptibale is or how you got it but I hope I never contract it.

Nice bike though.

From a purely aesthetic standpoint I don't like those Origin 8 dual 110/130 bcd chainrings, especially on a 130 bcd crank. They don't look too bad on a 110 bcd crankset, but on a 130 bcd crankset they look wrong to me with the 110 bcd mounts hanging down between the spider arms. I think something like an Sugino Messenger would look much better, although I realize it would cost more.

Sold the frame. The wheel base was just too long. The bike looked funny to me.

So I built this one.

That's a nice Masi. I never noticed how long the rear end was on the first bike. That's odd after I look at it now.

That's a nice looking bike. How are you liking that chainring? I'v been thinking about buying one myself as I need a new chainring. But I can't get over how ugly they look online, it looks slightly better on your bike though.

The chainring does the job. I will change it later. Probably a Sungino. For the money its not bad. I paid 17 bucks shipped.

Those are absolutely the ugliest chainrings ever made. They don't look too bad on a 110mm bcd crank, but look absolutely terrible on a 130mm bcd crank. I put one on a 1 x 7 conversion of a rigid mtb with a 110mm bcd crank, and it's apparent that they just took a 110mm bcd chainring and added extra holes, which is pretty lame imo.
