Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

The "what would you do?" 144 bcd crank thread lol

haha i have a big feeling this is going to be annoying for some readers, but oohhh well...

as some of you might remember from a previous thread, ive been in the market for a 144 bcd crankset. been trying to keep it below 140 bucks.

I have a miche advanced chainring already....
and probably might need a new bottom bracket for new cranks.

basically i have narrowed it all down to these three options.

1) a used, like new, miche advanced crankset with miche bottom bracket for 135. Its a great deal, buuuut its 165, which would be fine, BUT i would slightly prefer a 167.5...

2) a brand new Soma Hellyer for 111. would need a new BB, so total 131 out the door, and in the 167.5 size.

3) Sugino 75 like new in 170 for 140 bucks. like the miche, not the super ideal 167.5, but i could live with 170. would definitely need a new BB, so that would be the most expensive of the 3 choices.

I know I know, i should stop being a baby and stop bugging people on this board and just make up my own mind.

its just i know all the options are pretty good, and all the cranks are good, but im not sure if say one is levels ahead of the others in terms of quality....

i dunno, what would you do?

and if you actually have some other suggestions other than the above options, im totally open to suggestions.

Sell your Miche chainring and pick up a 167.5 Hellyer. Win/win.

All things considered I would go with the Miche cranks. Its the best deal, and slight changes in crank arm length will not effect you as much as you would think.

Or you could sell the Soma. having an extra chainring on hand is nice though...

I still say pick up a Hellyer in the length you'd really like.

while im not annoyed, boy you are indecisive.

i wouldnt buy a new crank just cause you have a chainring.

sell miche ring, buy omniums.

hellyer's are rebranded andels, which can be had for <90

1. omnom
2. andel
3. miche, new for 142$ w/ chainring.

illd, you are a cool dude but Oh my f'ing god. Grow a pair and make a decision for your self. Here's how you do it:

1) Decide what you want.
2) Look in your wallet.
3) If you have enough money: Buy what you want
4) If you don't have enough money: Save more money then go to Step 2.

I can undoubtedly GUARANTEE that you will love cranks (and the bike) if you make your decision that way.

By the way, it's a bike. You aren't designing a child.

...And for chrissakes, people, stop typing "lol". That is read as "lawl". If you mean an audible expression of happiness, or an inward feeling of joy that may ensue from hearing a joke, being tickled, or other stimuli, then type "haha" or "HAHAHAHA".

Have you checked out the 6 page tire thread started by Razor over at 41? He is going to make a poll so they can decide what tire HE should get...

Hahaha! That place is HILARIOUS.

But, the 41 and SSFG are more alike than different. I think that place has MORE "what should I do" threads than anywhere else.

Oh yea, vanity plays a big role in both of the forums and both places are full of badass elitists, etc etc.

All in all though, we are a swell bunch.

hey carleton, which toe clip should i put on first? I like right, but my friends say left. I can't decide which is better so please answer the poll

also compile me a gallery of toe clip photos.

and do my comparative shopping for me to find me the cheapest price for red mks aluminum toe clips.

I feel like 80% of ssfg is people requesting the forum to do their work for them.

OP: Sell your bike, get the **** out. isn't this the second thread you've made on buying used cranks because you bought a goddammed chainring first? That's as stupid as making a thread asking what cranks you should buy because you already bought a chainring. Get the miche arms so they match, then proceed to log out of the forum and don't come back.

randomly clicking is the path to the banstick. randomly clicking leads to rage. rage leads to FUUUU. FUUU leads to the banstick.
