Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Ok,so it's not right over the bb, but do you find the setback excessive?I'm proportioned pretty average and i'm supposed to have 70-90mm setback, depending on how aggressive the set up is.If those rims are 43s there's no more than ~50mm setback.

I wouldn't necessarily call it excessive, but given the seat-tube angle and top-tube length, I wouldn't want a setback post on it.

But you didn't post a funny pic with it so we had to argue for a page before anyone noticed.

LBS finished the conversion last week! New BB, Eighthinch 46t 170mm crank, red chain and 16t BMX freewheel. I wasn't sure if 46x16 was enough but it's actually just right!

The LBS needs to pull out a full link then toss in a half link, to tighten up the chain, other than that I like it.

It looks great other than the setback. You might find it more comfortable actually with a straight post. I would love to give that bike a ride myself!

Digging the matching valve caps, even the position is identical.

What headset is that?

New seatpost? That might look cleaner. The Brooks and orange Oury's win.
