Boston "Street Cred" Race

So I got a flyer for this race a couple of weeks ago but am just now getting arround to posting it.

Date: October 16, 2004
Location: Blackstone Park. . . Washington & E. Newton
Registration: $10 @3pm
Start: 4pm

Race, Trackstand Contest, and possibly (probably skid comp.)

"Prizes~Drinks~Prizes~T-Shirts"

"There will be an after party come hell or high water"

So who is going? I know that I am!!! It would be cool to be able to put a face to a name on here. I've never done one of these before either. . . so I would appretiate any advice if cares to lend some.

Dunno, maybe I'll check it out. Never raced, not sure I'm up for it anymore. I put away most of my self-destructive urges when I hung up my skates years ago. But we'll see.

One of the funniest things to see is about 40 or 50 people charging up Beacon hill to the State house on bikes.

Oh damn I hate that run. My commute used to take me from the foot at Beacon & Charles over the crest to Bowdoin. I would start strong, outrunning the cars, by the light just shy of the top I would be crawling along, legs burning.

Orange Fuji (frame), actually. It's a rattlecan job. But yeah, that's me.

edit: on rainy days, it's the blueish purpleish Fuji with the fenders and Concor Supercorsa saddle.

So anybody who went knows I didn't go, but I might have past some of you. Was anyone here in that pack of four I passed crossing the Comm Ave median to get on Comm Ave inbound? I was the dude in the Bruins cap with the earphones on the above mentioned orange track bike.

This is like one of those craigslist missed connections. My little Langster is there every Friday. I work the LOTR exhibit.

Only reason why the tape is there is because I don't like to advertise for people. If Specialized wants to give me a little discount or some cash or something then the tape will come off but not untill then. I am going to try to get in for the Star Wars exhbibt next year.

So why is it called "street cred"?

Do you get a t-shirt that says: "I now have street cred because I rode the 'Street Cred' race"?
