Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

rad fuji, worth it?

http://sacramento.craigslist.org/bik/2155456335.html

love the frame, seems 2 be in great shape. im going to try and talk the guy down or see if he wants to part it out (i don't need brakes, wheels, reflectors, etc.), but is this thing worth 250? it seems rather expensive. it's hard 4 me 2 find nice vintage bikes in good condition in my size.

Nah, it's nothing special. It was Fuji's bread and butter model. The really coveted models were the Fuji Finest and Newest.

Yeah, common misconception about old bikes is that they're all nice. I'd pay 200 for it.

Is this for a conversion?

Even with only $200 you could get a nicer 80's bike that would weigh less, I bought my Centurion LeMans RS for 200. . .

Not worth it as a base frame. Some old Fujis make great frames and/or complete bikes at a decent price, but this one is a high-ten model near the bottom of the line and not even worth $200 in my book.

The guy in that picture looks as though he is wearing a track suit jacket blowing in the wind. I don't trust old guys wearing track suit jackets that are the same age as the bike they are selling. But that's just me...

If he has gold chain and visible chest hair, legit.

Definitely pass, even for $200...

Especially if you plan on converting it. You'll end up dumping a bunch of cash only to end up with a rolling anchor.

Just buy a Kilo

Def. wouldn't pay $250 for it, especially if you plan on converting it.

A little research shows people picking them up in working order from $10 on up. Lower end boom bikes don't really appreciate in value like the chromo-butted campy-equipped race machines do.

That's why he's standing that way, I bet he has a blacked out ****** van around the corner too.

Had I taken this picture in Jun09 instead of this New Year's, I so would have that as my username!

+1 on it being too expensive. Even in great condition I wouldn't think of offering more than $125.00. As far as converting it, as long as you keep all of the original components and can rebuild it, it is still better than seeing it go to a landfill or hanging in a garage, unused.

The black and chrome has always been a great look.

I think the seller calculated inflation into the original price.
