pretty cool thrift store find

Out cruising a local thrift store this morning, I found this NOS pair of Adidas Eddie Merckx Comp shoes from 2003. I think they're trainers, as other E.M. Comp shoes I've seen have been perforated leather.

They may not be anything overly special but I thought it was cool to find them in a random thrift store, especially considering they've never been worn.

Does anyone know anything about them (maybe carleton or TT)?

Ah yes... Adidas' ill-fated, ill-advised foray into the bowling shoe market.

I'm not sure why they thought an Eddy Merckx collaboration would be an appropriate choice.

Very patriotic. No, I've never seen those shoes. Long before 2003 I was fully committed to clipless. The closest I have seen / owned are these much older touring shoes:

When I first saw them I thought, "I didn't know Adidas made bowling shoes" and once I picked them up I realized it was the E.M. shoe.

Wow, Go beverly, MA thrift stores.

I feel like in Los Angeles the real hipsters hit the thrift far before I ever think of it and snag all the cool stuff like that :/

Then they eBay it for 100 bucks for PBR money.

Recently, I found a pair of unused Specialized size 38 women's mtb shoes w/spd cleats. For 6.00! My wife wears 36s, so she didn't need them. Gave them to a friend whose wife has a friend wanting to get into riding clipless. I got my 6 bucks back and the friend is rockin' it clipless. Ever since I peruse the shoe section w/every visit of my local thriftstore(s).

Btw, very cool find. Congrats!

Awesome. A while back I scored a pair of vintage Duegi shoes with slotted cleats for free because I bought some MTB shoes from this guy and he just threw em in.

If it says "Eddy Merckx" on them somewhere, I am sure you can $50 for them on eBay. That a nice new leather seat or some good clips or you.

I agree. I've had more luck finding cool stuff in my hometown of Burlington NC than Los Angeles thrift stores.

On another note; where do they say it? On the inside of the tongue?
