BD.com shipping question.
Here's the story: I sent Bikes Direct an e-mail yesterday afternoon asking if they have a Dawes SST AL (50cm) in stock. It shows on their site that it's in stock so i ordered it last night. I get an e-mail today and they said that all their SST AL's are out of stock in 50cm.
Today, i receive a tracking number and tracked my package and this is what it said:
Mesquite, TX, United States 02/02/2011 3:54 P.M. Pickup Scan
United States 02/02/2011 12:24 P.M. Order Processed: Ready for UPS
So does that mean that UPS has the bike or did the phantom bike never make it on the UPS truck since it's "out of stock"? I heard stories of BD sending tracking numbers to buyers even though the bike is out of stock (which they find out days later). It says "pickup scan", so does that mean that a bike was picked up by UPS?

I'm trying to see if anyone else has had this issue. I'm sure you know how long it takes BD to reply (2 days). I'm just wondering so i know whether to send an email to BD requesting another bike or to ask them if they really shipped it.

Carleton here from Bikes Direct. The messages you got are ALL correct!! Basically, we here at Bikes Direct:
- Charged your card
- No we don't have any bikes in your size
- Yes we did ship you a box...of bricks
Thanks, for shopping at Bykes Direct and thanks for asking about your order on BikeForums!!
Also, if you have any questions about your orders from Amazon, Buy.com, or BangBros, feel free to ask here, too! Why bother those guys? They are too busy with other things like making sure your money gets into their bank accounts.

If you asked if the bike was in stock after you ordered it probably means you bought the last one in that size.

How old are you? I'm guessing early 20's? You lived for this long without an entry-level fixed gear bike and another day or two isn't going to make much difference in the grand scheme of your riding life. Take a deep breath and wait for BD to respond. They are the only ones who will be able to answer your question.
While you wait you can post 4-5 more theads asking what to change about the bike, how to wrench on the bike, and other new questions that have never been asked on this forum before and certainly couldn't be answered using the search function.
/sorry, I had a crappy night and I'm feeling more than a little snarky.
//Good luck getting this straightened out.
