Forks.... Please forgive a novice

Hi there

I have just acquired a Leader frame without forks. Apparently I need to get 1" forks. I've looked at the website and googled it a bit. Am I right in assuming that I need to buy carbon forks or what kind can I get?

Thanks

What frame do you have? I'm pretty sure all Leaders take 1 1/8" forks.

Material is based on preference....

Steel, Alu, Carbon all have different properties.

to be honest. I'm a student on a budget so it's cost a factor too!

Pretty sure the 715R takes a 1 1/8" fork.

So you know, that frame isn't a very good candidate for fixed gear because of the very short, vertical dropouts.

It's a bike, I don't think there is really a bike out there that requires balls to be ridden.

Well that frame would fit a fork with 45mm rake due to its slack road geo.

Kinesis is a good company; matter a fact their factory makes the majority of branded carbon forks out there. They also make frames aswell.

you need to know the rake of the stock fork, and match your new fork to that rake +/- a few mm. Naturally you need to answer the stem size question too. I ended up gettting a $50 carbon fork from Bike Nashbar. It changed the handling a little, but its OK for commuting.

If you don't want to get the stock fork, you need to do your homework.

Hi it's definitely 1" required. I'm trying to cut costs down. I spoke to the guy I bought the frame who confirmed it was 1" - can I ask a stupid question?

Are cyclocross forks compatible with this particular frame?

Thanks

Yeah dude...what are we looking at here and why did you randomly post it if it has nothing to do with the Leader frame in question?

Everything aside, do you still need a 1" carbon fork or are you looking at something else?
