I also put some carabiner clips on the little loops that are on the sides under the outer zipper to put stuff on, like my keys for example.

Yeah, don't get me wrong. I LOVE mine too. I'm going to try and find a work around, those pouches seem like a good idea.

That looks awesome! haha. Might be a possibility too.

I had ideas of taking apart an old back pack and transplanting sleeves and pockets over on my MW, but sadly they are just ideas now without means of doing so. Maybe when I figure out.

Everything I've ever used from Chrome is fantastic (Citizen messenger, Warsaw backpack, Kursk and Kursk Pro shoes). I'm also not one to feel the need to distance myself from hipster stigma. If it's a good bag, it's a good bag. Chrome bags are amazing. Comfortable, fully weatherproof, tough as nails, and I love the buckle for heavy loads (just lean back, unbuckle and drop). I'm sure other similar makes are just as good though. At some point it just becomes a matter of style.

I don't think the hipster thing really applies to chrome anymore, at least in cities. Chrome just seems like the mainstream standard messenger bag now. In Chicago I've seen business men, college jock/frat types and pretty much every other type with a chrome bag. A custom reload bag would be more of a hipster accessory now. I think Keen footwear owns Chrome now so a lot of their production is moving to china, although I haven't heard anything about the quality going down yet.

Just buy what you like and is comfortable from a company that you feel good about.

took my first commute home with my MW Rambler today and thumbsup for this backpack. 16 miles and the pack didnt shift the thing i really liked is that the back is pretty straight so it forces me to ride w/ a more straight back so it helped open my chest up for better breathing. It packed everything that i needed with plenty of room to spare.

I found that I really need to get that Grid-It organizer as a multi tool/15mm wrench and some other odds and ends that would benefit from that doohickey

Crazy question. Anybody use a large canvas bag from an Army Surplus store?

I'm really glad I got the bag when they added those two front pockets.
It is very comfortable.
I didn't have trouble looking back at traffic.
The bag looks and feels solid.
No complaints on quality...

I JUST WISH IT HAD MORE POCKETS!
On my first run with it, I realized the importance of having lots of POCKETS among other features.
  1. I didn't like how my everyday carry had to be piled on the bottom of one of the 3 compartments. I just don't like piling my charger on top of my laptop.
  2. I swear I read somewhere that one of the compartments had a different depth than the other 3 but all of them seem to fall to the bottom.
  3. I didn't like the lack of an easy access spot for my water bottle either! I have to stop and take it out of the bag instead of just reaching on the side.
  4. I also wish the pack had a better sweat system? My shirt was SOAKED! haha.

Maybe the bag just wasn't designed as a "lifestyle" bag but more oriented toward messengers.
I'm going to see if I can get used to these lack of features otherwise I might end up selling it and buying it again when enough people complained like me and they change the bag again.
Been riding my MW Vandal for about 2 weeks now. I love it. My first grocery trip I was shocked at the fact that I kept filling it but it was never really full. Some more pockets/ inner organization would be nice but overall I am totally stoked on this bag.

Army Surplus conversion

But you need a "real" rear rack

I took someone's suggestion and got a grid-it and put all my loose essentials (multi-tool/15mm wrench/ipod/earbud etc) on the thing and put it in the first compartment. but i do agree that some of the compartments should have different depths so you're not having to fish all the way down.

Oh damn..rack needed? I want to get a bag for work and getting groceries especially. I live in a place where I have successfully not driven at all for an entire weekends and then commuted to work..it is just so practical.

Then I get in my car to get groceries 1 mile away and am like...why..lol.

But I'd like to have something over my shoulder and not have to add a rack to the bike.

The canvas bags I've seen at the army surplus store aren't very large. Mine one works pretty well to ride with on my back, but it I would not be able to carry much stuff. I'll have to see if the store has larger ones now

Yeah I will look too and see if I can find anything as well. I am not a hipster, more of a DIY punk attitude so too much fashion is not my thing. I like cheap stuff that works well!

I just bought the Ortlieb Packman Pro 2 from my lbs: https://www.ortliebusa.com/CartGenie/prod-234.htm

So far I've ridden around with it carrying groceries and it feels great. Super excited about this bag!
