reminds me of an exhibit at the Hands on Museum in A2 Michigan haha I used to love that place and the exhibit. It was all about strobe effects and whatnot.

PlattsVegas 03-15-11 04:57 PM

ScottRock 03-15-11 05:13 PM

I picked a hell of a day to stop smoking opium

hairnet 03-15-11 06:24 PM

I really want to try to do this. So many trashy wheels at the co-op for freee

evilcryalotmore 03-15-11 06:24 PM

Thats alot of frames.

Thats pretty intense.

hairnet 03-15-11 06:28 PM

Yeah, but the wheel does 1/2 the work

evilcryalotmore 03-15-11 06:33 PM

But the editing takes hours to do.

Also, You'd have to have a very controlled environmental, IE lighting. Well simple enough if you can lock exposure but just saying.

hairnet 03-15-11 06:43 PM

I dont think I'd film it. It would just be fun to take a wheel and make something like it were a flip book animation, for the hell of it

evilcryalotmore 03-15-11 07:31 PM

yeah, When i attendeted the art center in pasadena i did alot of flip book stuff.

Flip booking is fun, I did one where jello melted through a fork.

TOOK FOREVER. :|

hairnet 03-15-11 07:40 PM

You went to Art Center? How old are you anyway?

evilcryalotmore 03-15-11 07:47 PM

Its not stop-motion, the animation is purely a result of the the different shapes on the wheel being captured by the camera as it spins.

evilcryalotmore 03-15-11 07:50 PM

You try editing that, It doesnt take 2 minutes.

hairnet 03-15-11 07:53 PM

I'm confused about what's going on. At 15 you're in the Art Center's BA program? That doesn't make sense. You mean the Saturday High, yes?

Hothead286 03-15-11 08:10 PM

Creative, I like it.

Leukybear 03-15-11 08:27 PM

The technical name for this is a zoetrope; that's where it got its name.

Back in my undergrad days; a classmate did one of these for our studio art final. Aside from the fact that he chopped up a olmo in the process of creating the frame for the zoetrope; it was amazing in person.

evilcryalotmore 03-15-11 09:08 PM

I Have nigthclasses. The center is around 6 miles from my house, And main campus is up a mountain, I can't reach it on the fix gear.

He's obviously a child prodigy.

Squirrelli 03-15-11 09:12 PM

Oh wait, did I say prodigy? I meant porridge. A child porridge, for the mama and papa bear.

Tidal_Waves 03-15-11 09:17 PM
