    bb30

    http://www.bikerumor.com/2011/03/05/...#comment-72388

Looking forward (and showing his track roots), hes developing a BB30 style track crankset with a third party because itll bring a lot of stiffness to a discipline that can really use it.

I don't think BB30 in a steel frame makes a lot of sense but I would like to talk to Don about it. Don't get me wrong, I know steel can be make stiff enough to benefit from BB30 but as I understand it you have to remachine the BB after brazing due to the tolerances. But as a format, I really like my 2 BB30 bikes.
I'm not one for fawning over bicycles, but I do believe that our bikes communicate with us, and what this bike is saying is, "You're an idiot." BikeSnobNYC

I'm sure the BB30 is stiffer...but its one of those things that is never going to matter to 99.999% of the people out there, even most amateur racers. If someone wanted to give it to me free...sure, otherwise, its not worth getting a hard on about, at least not until its mainstream and the parts are readily available with time-tested designs.

To be honest, I don't even understand the significance of my avatar.

In my defence, my assigned avatar does not include a squirrel or a cat.
