Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

99 KHS Aero Comp Fixed Gear build

Just completed my fixed-gear build...been something I've wanted to do since my college days a decade ago when I worked in a bike shop. Here are some images of it...

better quality images at http://www.flickr.com/photos/2943763...7626295275532/

Bits include:
Brooks Swift saddle
3T Quill Stem (recycled)
Nashbar "Bullhorn" bars
Salsa Bar Tape
White Industries H2 Front Hub
White Industries ENO Eccentric Rear Hub
DT Swiss Double Butted Spokes
Velocity Fusion Rims (Ti color)
Syncros Ti seat post (recycled)
Cane Creek 200TT Levers
Shimano Ultegra Cranks (recycled)
Shimano Ultegra Brakes (recycled)
Chris King headset
Carbon Fiber Bladed Fork (recycled)
DuPont ChromaBase Paint
DuPont SelectClear Clear
KHS factory decals
LOOK Keo Classic pedals

The bike rides like a dream...I'm very happy with the result.

Cheers!
bill

P.S. I know it's a conversion and bits were removed for aesthetic purposes...a choice made by ME about MY bike...I'm the one riding it and could care less if you think I "ruined" it or not. This isn't my only steed in the stable...nor was this bike ever destined to become a "classic."

detail shots are always good but they tend to work better with an overall shot...

This please. It may also help if the pictures are taken somewhere that isn't so dark.

As requested, here's the only image I have of the bike full-frame (so far)...taken the other day while out on it's maiden ride (iPhone quality). This is my first fixed and I'm really enjoying it, logged over 180 miles over this last week (considering I was out of town last weekend that's not too shabby). I've owned a couple single-speed's but never a fixed...it really does add another dimension to the overall experience.

Cheers!

Yes...though unfortunately not as frequently as I used to. I tend to bounce between bimmerforums and M3Forums depending on the tone. I certainly wouldn't consider myself a 'regular' on either (or any) forum lately due to an unrelenting work schedule (60+hr/wk's are normal now)...just no time outside of taking care of the family and myself (hence the bike build...it was a much needed relief from the grind). Thanks for asking.

Cheers!

Just a joke. Folks around this forum often make reference to odd saddle/bar angles. Just a play on that since so many were complaining about the photo angles.
