Plenty of people on here commute(or claim they do) on a Kilo. It's really just how much discomfort you feel like dealing with on a daily basis.

I opted for a Windsor Hour because I wanted something with more relaxed geometry(and save some $$$ too ) And honestly, even that gets uncomfortable at times when I stay in the drops for a while. I wouldn't want anything more aggressive for commuting around town on - but to each their own.

Hey, getting close to that time when i put my order for my shark grey kilo in. Is there any upgrades i need right away? What tire/tube combo is recommended for a lot of pot holes and debris?

If you have a large pile of cash, and the only other option of disposing of it its to burn it, go for it. Otherwise, ride em till they break (which won't take long, haha). You'll probably get a month of use out of them; it'll give you some time to decide on the new ones.

Yeah, I planned on using them to practice because I've never ridden fixies or clips. I come from a BMX background and some hybrid bikes and road bikes. Is there a huge difference in on how Track bikes feel compare to a road bike?

The geometry on a kilo is pretty aggressive compared to most road bikes. The steering is going to be pretty twitchy. Other than that, you can't coast. You'll get used to it.

The pedals are crap, the problem is the cages are flimsy plastic and the straps are even worse, they collapse when you swing the pedal around to get your foot in. Buy some nice leather straps and you shouldnt have any problems... until the alloy pedals eventually break.

I use a Kilo as a commuter, but my commuters are only 2-miles one way so I can't speak beyond that point.

If you like going fast, I'd recommend it. You could always slap a SS cog on it if you've got a relatively long commute. Comes with rack mounts if you choose to commute with panniers.

Inseam matters, but so does your reach.

You should use that fit calculator thing... Where is Jay...

Ok guys having a little issue here. so my inseam is 29" and I my self stand at a whooping 5'5". I'm gonna be ordering a Kilo TT Pro soon and it seems like the 47 should be fine. my problem is that I've never rode track bikes. With this size having a small amount of crotch clearance, will the seat post show enough? Should I go for the 44? If so does the frame slope at all because its so small?

44 slopes. even 47 i think slopes. maybe 50? fifty is 30.? standover, you'd have an inch and more is unnecessary.

44cm will be too small for you, I got that for my 5' girlfriend. Both the 44 and 47 toptubes slope. The 50cm does not, I used to own one. Don't rely on standover height solely for sizing. Use a fitment calculator.

That's what I thought. I fit a 51cm road bike pretty good with about 2 inch gap. I'm hoping a 50cm kilo will be spot on. Once I get the fitment calculation ill post the results and take you're opinions. On another note, what tires would he good for commuting? Thinking of the hardshells but they're kinda pricey.

Going by top tube alone, the 47cm. That's how I picked mine but you might want to wait for more experienced riders to respond.
