Deep V Rims: Options?

So i hear lot of people talking about Velocity Deep V rims being a real solid rim for fixie/SS riding. Do you agree? I also read a bunch of reviews that said that after a couple years of use they fall apart (cracked and folding walls). I do dig that they come in so many colours, but are there any other "deep V" style options in other brands like Mavic that come in anything other than black and grey? I want somthing that will last a for a long time, as well as look sweet on my ride. If you were building wheels starting with Phil Wood hubs, what would you do?

for some reason I remember the araya 7x or some other deep V rims having the same problems that's one of the reasons that i've stayed away from v rims (that and I think they look a little weird).

My rear wheel is a Deep V. I f'in' love it. It's very solid and takes a lot of abuse. It just rocks.

yes my velocity deep vs are still fine too. Had the wall fold in once about 1 inch length but could bend it back no problem. The fold in was also clearly my fault since I ran with low tire pressure and hit a pothole I should have seen. Now I religiously keep my tires at 130psi and the wheels are happy and dentfree. Mavic open pros are very tough too. (allthough not deep vs)

what problems are you talking about? and the araya 7x rims are 20" bmx rims. single-walled at that.
