I got hit by a car last night going just under 20mph.
It. Was. Awesome. #streetcred #bikerbadge I'm a solid 190lbs, so I was fine and the bike was fine (though the brooks handlebar tape did get ripped ). The car's rear fender got all messed up though
Though, here is the question: if/when that happens to you guys (jdgesus) and the person is human enough to stop and concern themself with you, do you guys ever grab their insurance info even if you're totally okay?

make an insurance claim, they'll pay out for your bar tape, and etc etc... plus goto doctor, make them bill their insurance (not you)
just have the doc check you over. also, take bike to LBS for checking, the car insurance ppl will pay out (and they paid out fast for me)
glad you're OK! 20mph is pretty fast. the last wreck i was under 10mph and it still knocked me out and sent me to the ER (and killed my bike)

The car could've backed into him? I get nervy when I see a car's reverse lights come on, I always make sure the person sees me.
Today I went on a short 8 miler with my wife. Stopped by her school for more plant cuttings and I saw a draft lite locked up that was missing the post/saddle and stem/bars. Unless the person is ultra diligent and attached to those specific parts, I think they're gone.

i was in the bike lane. the car sped up to get past me. and then made a VERY quick right turn that cut me off with his rear right tire. he hit me. took me out. cut me off. i'm not an aggressive rider by any means. his rear windows were tinted. it was night. it was not my fault.

Good luck Kaz.
Today I did this:
All-City Standard Track and plastic quad gates with Origin8 leather double straps. I was gonna order from Scrod, but an LBS is having a stupid sale and I got all of the above for $36. Not my ideal, but I badly needed pedals and straps and I'm on a budget.

Today I took a piss test for who I hope will be my future employer. Went to the LBS for some sundry items; I ran a new brake cable and installed a v-brake noodle so I could sort out some weird binding that was happening to the front brake on my touring bike. Wrapped the bars in cloth tape and overwrapped with cork. Feels so plush.
Went grocery shopping tonight too. My wife and I decided that we're celebrating Thanksgiving by ourselves, and I'm gonna cook enough food for 6. It's gonna be amazing.
Feels good man.

Today I...
Messengered through the morning, caught a flat right before I was supposed to go to class. My hand pump **** the bed and broke my spare tube's valve so I threw both in the trash and walked to the bike shop. Stepped into the 21st century by picking up co2 chargers, missed class. Later, went to work at other job, food runner at tapas restaurant. Further solidified the recently growing sentiment that I need to get out of the service industry for good. Now thinking about options...

I had a guy in a car pass me to the RIGHT of the bike lane, cut back in front of me to get in front of a slower moving truck, then make a right turn onto a street where he had to stop at the red light anyways. Made a difference of about 5 seconds and the only thing he accomplished was he got to the red light faster so he could wait more.

Today I marched in what I thought to be for my last time this year, but Iowa State beat the No.2 team in the nation It looks like we're going to see a bowl game! Woo!
Now I have a week off so I can get some reasonably cold riding in.

Today should be fun.
Once/off season Swamis (a local cycling club) holds a "poker ride", which is a great event.
58 miles
5800' climbing
Some local dirt roads (hardpack).
Teams of 4.
There are checkpoints on the course where each rider must sign in and receive a card.
Big prizes at the end for fastest times and best poker hands, and free shwag + bbq for all.
That's kind of like how an alleycat works, right?
I got invited because my team (Spy Optic) is their new title sponsor and it's held at Spy's world HQ down here.
Tomorrow my buddies and I get to ride, and Spy's primary cycling agent/contact will join us too, who is a cat1 crosser.
Headed out the door now.

I am filled with contempt and hatred for it. I missed seeing one of my longstanding favorite bands live because of this job. I have to deal intimately with the drunken scum of the earth every night and I have to be nice to them. I do 3-4 peoples' jobs every night and get paid for one of them. And it's driven me to pick up smoking again.
