Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Anyone Sitting on a Persons or Cardiff?

They look pretty nice, the price is so close to a b17 that I think I would just pony up the little extra for a brooks. Any of you have one?

I have a couple Persons #77 Deluxes. Great saddles. I like the Persons tensioned leather saddles as well or better than any of the Brooks saddles I've been riding for the last 32 years. But yeah, if an extra 38% for a saddle with the little Brooks foil tag on the back doesn't bother your budget, you'll do fine gettin' ya one of those, too.

I just picked up a cardiff mercia, only rode on it a couple time so far but it's seems just as comfy as my b17.

I've been riding a Cardiff Mercia for two years. Was reasonably happy with it, but then... The weld that joined one of the rails to the rear bracket separated. If you compare the welding on a Brooks to that of a Cardiff. Well, there is no comparison. I've replaced it with a Brooks B17. I'm still thinking about having the broken weld fixed. The Cardiff has broken in nicely for me, and the Mercia is a nice looking saddle.

B17s are siginificantly narrower and longer than the Persons 77 deluxe and the Cardiff Mercia. Fit before style, always.
