Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Any of you guys using/ used soma double straps?

Threw on a pair last week and I've found them to stretch a bit too much compared to my usual toshis. Anybody encounter this problem when they were using them?

Any non-laminated leather straps will stretch quite a bit more than laminated straps. Soma's straps are the same thing as EighthInch, All-city, Origin 8 and the unbranded leather doubles sold on my site.

Been meaning to start a thread on this, have you tried/seen Avenir's Double Straps Scrod? I think Avenir has a bad rep but I used to have All City's and the Avenir's are about twice as thick and barely stretch at all, they also cost $10 less on Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/Avenir-Fixie-D...3667618&sr=8-7

Besides the leather being a lot nicer, the straps aren't connected as close together as they usually are, meaning they're easier to use on pedals like the GR-9 that weren't made for double straps (similar to Cadence's double-straps). They're also not as insanely long as the All-City's, I have about 4 inches left over and I have size 12 feet. I had to chop the All City's because they were huge.

Anywhoo, they're worth checking out.

Hey scrod, how are the deluxe doubles at your store? They look exactly like the straps that cadence had.

The deluxe lamented doubles on my site are the exact same straps as the Cadence ones but they're unbranded.
