First time hub buying
So my lock ring stripped today and ruined the threading on my hub just a few weeks after I stripped the other side for the exact same reason.
I was running the stock cog and lockring that came with my vuelta pista wheelset I purchased last year, so I'm assuming that was the culprit as after I stripped it the first time I took my bike to my lbs to make sure everything was tightened properly and I wouldn't strip it again (that worked out well).
What kind of measurements and so forth do I need to know when I begin looking for a new hub online? What kind of brands do you guys recommend? I'll be buying a new cog and lockring as well so what kind of brands do you recommend? I'm looking to spend 40-60 for a hub, and 20-30 for a cog/lockring.

Iro Hub is $20.
Formula/All City is the next step up
Both sealed I'm pretty sure.
Measurement is usually 120mm spacing, but if your dropouts are different, order accordingly.
Get Dura Ace Cog/Lockring, about $30 for both, or Retrogression stocks steel cogs for a good price.

I don't understand how a cheap cog or lockring is stripping threads. I have a $5 cog that I've run on some bontrager wheel and hub for a year, over to a friends weinnman wheel for 6 months, and now I've been running on my dura ace hub for the last 2 years. I've had no issues with it at all.
I have plenty of friends that ran the stock cog that came on their weinnman wheels from an ebay store, no problems. My brother ran his stock cog from one of those real cheap $120 wheels, tubes, tires, cog, freewheel sets off some eaby store, again no issues. I think people are just weak and don't know what tight really is

Probably, the person installing the lockring and/or cog do not understand that hand tight is not tight enough.
