Alleycat Race, this Friday, central Jersey
Yeah, that's right... Central Jersey!!! New Brunswick to be exact. Home to Rutgers University.
Its gonna be a food-drive race, with all proceeds to go towards our local soup-kitchen and bike library.
Sure, it'll be a small race (~25 racers) in a small, smelly, and yet traffic-clogged city. But there'll be prizes and probably some drinks afterwards. So if you're in the area, check it out!
The details:
Friday, Nov 12th
4PM-Registration
4.25-Race!
Meet at the Top Level of the College Ave Parking Deck. Its on College Avenue and Senior Street.
$6

ps. having the start and finish of an alleycat on the top level of a parking deck is the sh*t!!! I only wish it was originally my idea.
pps. this is with the caveat that you're not allowed to carry your bike up/down the stairs

I doubt anybody here was even gonna show (b/c of location, or lack thereof... not b/c of desire). But for those imaginary fixie riders in Central New Jersey, the race is still on.
Here's what the organizer has to say about it:
Hey All—
I'm writing this email to give you all a forewarning:
Weather is not looking to good for Friday, and it's going to get
cold. That being said RACE IS STILL ON!!!!! That's right…. Were
still looking at least twenty guys who are willing to ride so we're
saying what the hell…ride on. So to making thing a bit more
rewarding were going to have spoke cards made for the race…with the
top ten place numbers on them and beyond that they will all be
generic. Prizes are still looking very nice, and I can't thank
enough all the guys who have emailed me about donating cans and
helping out so we wouldn't have to front all the cash. It looks like
all food is going to be donated to Elijah's Promise (soup kitchen).
On another note if you are planning on coming out, feel free to
shoot me an email just letting us know, it would be such a help!
Again email me with any ?'s
Try to be on time if not early!!!
SEE YOU ALL FRIDAY----- Blake

Hey I may be there I may not. I don't know my way around New Brunswick and am in terrible cyling shape right now, well compared to summer at least. But it sounds like a damn good time. As of now I am going to bed praying they don't call me to work tommorow so I can be there in time. I just wish I had my fixed gear here with me at school but I need at home on weekends or I go mad. Hope to see you there.

Well... it turns out i was wrong. The organizer is postponing the race. I know you're all thinking how weak this is. Well i wanted to go through with it, and so did a few other people. But its not my call.
Most likely (95+%) postponed to next Friday, Nov. 19th. I'll post again once i know definitely.
My personal apologies to sbeatonNJ, and to anybody else planning on attending. Thanks for the support. Hopefully you can make it next Friday (most likely)
