2011 Bianchi Pista Dalmine Toe Issue

So the clearance on the front wheel isn't that great, it hits my toe clip pretty good when I turn hard (like u-turn, sharp turn) however just regular riding is fine with no issue. However it does bug me a little bit, and would like to fix the issue without spending money on buying a new wheel set.

Would changing out the crankset from a 170mm to 165mm help? Also want swap out my current pedals and rock the MKS GR9's.

Any input/advice would help greatly! Thanks.

Changing your crank arm size will help. Changing your wheelset will not do anything unless you swap your front wheel for a 650c, but that will change your geometry drastically.

You could try smaller clips as well. I don't know how the pedal size differs, but it could help too.

Swapping your fork for one with a different rake will also affect toe overlap, but again that's messing with the geometry.

Well, the cheapest solution would be to go a bit slower through bends.

ooo ok thanks, im trying to find a cheap solution right now by trying to find individual crank arms lol, however it may not deem possible and might just settle for replacing the truvativ touro crankset that currently comes with the bike.

as far as replacing the clips go, not sure if i can do that since i am a size 12-13 foot haha. i might be down to swap forks but again the fork that currently comes on it is pretty nice =)

lol, well like i previously stated the problem only occurs when i go slow and make supremely sharp turns, regular riding i haven't encountered the problem yet.

How often are you "going slow and making supremely sharp turns" unless you're consciously trying to make your toe hit your wheel? Stop worrying about it and ride your bike.

i'll try to take pics tomorrow of the steering angle when the toe clips begin to hit.

You've already said it doesn't happen during "regular riding". To me, that doesn't seem like any sort of problem worth spending any time or money trying to "fix". Like I said, stop trying to hit your wheel with your toe and ride.

You get used to toe overlap anyway after some time, it's not that big a deal.

Just ride for a couple days, you get used to it. Every solution involves an impact which is 10x worse than bumping your cage if you aren't paying attention.

The only real solution is to buy a touring or trick frame.

I generally just unclip whatever foot would be hit, make the turn (I can only think of one place where I do this, a small zig-zag path near school), then clip in when I'm straight.

Free and simple.

I do the same as LocoTracks whenever I ride the Kilo and anticipate hitting the front wheel with my toe.

And others are right, too. When I jump on the Kilo after not riding it for awhile, I'm always like FUUUU toeverlap... but I get used to it within a short period of time and change my riding style to incorporate it.

If it bothers you that much I'm going to go ahead and say you picked the wrong bike for your needs.

U could go with straps and pedals might help a little more clearance
https://www.retro-gression.com/produc...twisted-pedals

I just checked my Pista its a 61 frame size. The toe strap misses mine by a 3/4 of a inch.

You could try a size down in clips, or you could go with straps like a few others have suggested.

Another shameless plug for Aurora only because I had the exact same issue and didn't want to switch over to BMX pedals to fit Hold Fasts. I might be switching back to clips or maybe try clipless, but I've always felt super secure in straps and you can quickly adjust your foot placement to avoid toe overlap.
