1/8 chain on 3/32

basically i have a 1/8 chain and 1/8 track cog

my front chainring is 3/32

is there any chance of chain slippage because of the chainring not being snug?

1/8 chain. No worries.

As long as the chain line is somewhere close to reasonable.

It's always better to have matching sizes though, right? What can go wrong when you have a 1/8 on a 3/32?

I run a 1/8" chain on a 3/32 freewheel on one of my bikes. It isn't preferred, but it won't cause any problems. The worst that could happen is a slightly noisier drivetrain.

P.S. this has been discussed numerous times, and a search would have revealed the same answers you are receiving here.

+1

This comes up once every couple weeks. There are probably hundreds of threads asking the exact same question.

If you use a gasoline-based lube like the pros you'll get much better flame. The fire will clean your chain.

I've heard stories of chainring teeth becoming sharp as ****, but I'm pretty sure you'd need a lot of miles before that happens, I've been riding 1/8 cog, 1/8 chain, 3/32 chainring for a year now and I ride every day. No real noticeable wear.

Try using a wax lube like Rock and Roll. You can soak the chain and then light the solvent

A worn out ring does look like shark teeth. Rings are sharp a **** anyway and I have the scars on my calf to prove it :-/
