Help me add some style to my Sputnik

Here's my Sputnik. (Which BTW, wtf did Jamis do do the new Sputniks? they're TOTALLY not the same bike.)

If you were me, what would you change out? Everything on it works, I just want it to look a little better, or different... gettin itchy.

A bigger frame?
Probably a different rear light, carbon bottle cage on the seattube, definitely remove spacers if possible and get a steeper rise stem.
Carbon weave fork would look awesome, definitely new bars (Deda pistas or nittos with track grips)
Last: nicer saddle with a low profile that matches the bike. arione? selle?

I'm pretty tall and I have a hard time finding bikes that fit. This one is is set up great for me. I need a pretty short cockpit.
I used to have a Specialized Toupe saddle and it looked totally badass; but it was WAY to hard (ie; spent time at a urologist getting probed and tested) So I got a comfy one. For the bars: I really need to not be leaned over much, if any, further. I put a lot of miles on this and need the comfort, too.

Since you like to ride in an upright position, go full townie on it.

- Fenders
- Townie bars
- Saddle bag
- etc..

Something like:

If it were mine:

-Sleeker saddle with flatter angle
-Flat Bars with red bar ends
-Smaller Stem
-Black rear light ($5 can of spraypaint would work)

EDIT: Carleton's townies are GORGEOUS though. Just depends on if you want a vintage look or a modern look.

Yeah. It'll go a long way with keeping the lines of the bike clean IMO. I don't think it requires a whole new light, but the color difference makes it look kind of clunky. Sweet bike as is though. I love Jamis bikes.

Saddle angle, handlebar choice, and stem size are a matter of fitting. He shouldn't just change those for aesthetic reasons...neither should anyone else. It kills me to see people riding in a painfully low position because they feel that the bike looks best when the stem is slammed in a negative position with no spacers. Function trumps form.

Thanks for the compliments, but those aren't my bikes. I provided the links to the sources.

I completely agree. Before the fixed gear market realyl blew up, Jamis had something different. Then, as soon as everyone else rolled out their complete bikes, Jamis turned the Sputnik as generic as possible. Too bad, really. Is yours a 2006?

Last I checked, the decals were under the clearcoat. This is still the case, right?

I might just be the photo, but that Kilo looks like the paint has been damaged a little where the decals were.

I dont think it's a 2006. I think those still had the Easton decals on the forks. Mine doesn't, but it's the same Easton fork. They made one model after this one that had cable stops and came with 2 brakes... I think I'm going to get a black caliper up front... speaking of brakes.

Aside from the gold risers, I think the bike looks fine. Then again, this is coming from a guy who owns this:

Yeah, the gold bars are coming off and either the stock Ritchie drops are going back, or I have a set of these Origin 8 bars, but they're so nerdy I couldn't tolerate them.

The saddle seems really really high; I'm 5'9" with 34.5" inseam and your saddle seems much higher than mine.

That's a long inseam for your height.... Mine's at the right height for me. I wear Levi 514 slim straight 32x36

Measuring your actual inseam has nothing to do with the size of your jeans.

There are two words that sum up what every bike owned by someone on this forum is missing.

Handlebar streamers.

Prove me wrong (and a strategically placed troll doesn't count, although it may help)
