Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

think of the street cred lost on your Mash if it has a brake! just slowly wear off the paint of a wheel you already have. or splurge..

Sugino grand mighty FTW. I've seen way too many builds with record pista's.

You could always get a Dura-Ace crankset...

i ran a brake on a non-machined side wall for a while and the paint didn't really rub off, it just made it look shiny. plus if you're used to riding brakeless you probably won't use the brake much anyway. just do it. bike components are meant to be used and take wear and tear.

street cred depends on which street you're on.

Already have a pair, they're up in the air through as I just the other week had them regurgitated from my paddywagon due to impromptu clearance issues. Otherwise my lips are sealed as I'm too tired from today to create any drama here today.

Should I hit the hay, because I'm just barely functioning mentally due to exhaustion atm?

Should I buy risers for my Kilo?

I've never ridden with risers, only bullhorns and drops, but I tend to ride like I have risers anyway, as well as the look of having risers has been growing on me as of late. I have been wanting bullhorns again, since I gave this kid on my local forums my 21's since they were too big for me, but haven't found a replacement pair yet.

I just feel like I will be lacking something with risers, given you really only have one hand position.

I also feel like I might eat **** for some reason.

You kind of have two hand positions. Putting your hands by the stem and bending your elbows can give you a good aero position for a headwind.

Risers are cool. And like redpear said they almost turn into aerobars in a headwind!
