Fresh Garbage
I emailed the seller. He is all the way in Oceanside so I hope the bike will be available in a week.

I enjoy some of terms used to by MTB'ers to refer to their bikes. Apparently a bike with a 26" rear wheel with a Vee brake and a 29" front with a disc is called a "sixtyniner with a mullet."

I do like my 29er, but think it would be more fun to whip around a smaller bike. Either way, it doesn't see enough use. The only time I get to hit the trails is the weekend and right now there's so many damn hikers its next to impossible to ride on them. I figure that will change when the weather gets warmer. No one wants to hike when its 110 outside.

Kit doesn't match
That's a pretty darned flexible combination. When running slicks, I'm about as fast on my crossbike as I am on my road bike. I'd probably want two sets of wheels. The stock ones, which tend to be beefy, running something with knobs for general tomfoolery, then a lighter set with slicks for road riding that I'd hunt down used somewhere...

Should I buy an IRD Defiant crankset for my next classic style track bike build with quill stem, threaded headset, etc.
or should I use an old beat up Sugino Mighty Comp road crankset from the 1970s with a track chainring:

Nothing wrong with the Sugino. I'd use it in a heartbeat.
