Hi I have just bought this https://www.genesisbikes.co.uk/bikes/...er/flyer/specs
It is my first singlespeed bike. The rear hub is a Formula track flip-flop 120mm rear. I believe the wheel can be flipped and it can become a fixie. Please see the pictures. There are threads on the other side. What do I need to convert it. The present singlespeed is 46x18. Thanks for any help. Ian

Yes... and I recommend greasing the inside of the cog and lockring too. You may also need a chain whip if you don't want to Rotafix. However you will need a lockring tool to tighten the lockring. I would go to your LBS if you are still unsure.

Thanks for the quick replies. I am fairly proficient with my road bikes and should be able to tackle it myself. I have a chain whip.Should I stick with a 18t cog? If I go smaller will i need to take some links out of the chain or just tighten it?

If you're planning on doing skids, go with a 17 or 19T cog to maximize skid patches. Depending on where your wheel sits in the dropouts, a 1 or 2 tooth change in cog size may be accommodated without changing the chain length.

Also: if you are planning on skidding make sure you tighten that lockring down tight. But not too tight: you could damage the hub.

just torque down the lockring the the specified torque rating it should say on your lock ring
