Single speed Chain setup: Chain more inboard or outboard?
Morning,
Just installing my new cog and chain ring. Single speed using a free hub... eccentric BB.
I know I am talking about 1/2" (max) to the inboard or to the outboard.
Is it better to have the cog, chain and chain closer to the center line of the bike? I am thinking (that's the problem right there) that there might be pros con cons.
Shawn

People move the chainrings around to get their chain line perfect. You are using a freehub so you can just move the cog to line up with wherever you want the ring to be.

run the big ring up front. it looks cleaner and (in conjunction with the also larger rear cog) can significantly increase drivetrain life.
as has already been said, start there and make a straight line back to the freehub with the chain. space the cog out that far...make it as straight as possible.
