Dodici sizing help.
Hey guys.
I'm set on a Dodici Special. But I'm not very sure on the sizing. I did the Competitive Cyclist's Fit Calculator and got the results. But I can't wrap my head around it. Note this is my first time getting a bike online.
CF link < my inseam is 79 cm / 31.1 inches.
CF link 2
Here's the Special's sizing chart
I measured by myself, hopefully its accurate enough. My head says go with the 53 cm. It's right at the sweet spot, I reckon. But I emailed Dodici a couple days back and this was the reply
So its either 51 or 53. What do you guys think?
Anyway, thanks a million. Appreciate it.

Calculating with your inseam and height we think that the 51 size would be perfect, our frames have a higher bottom bracket from the other bikes, so this size would be fine!
Anyway, thanks a million. Appreciate it.

Fresh Garbage
First of all, choose which fit you want to go with and then look for a frame to match it.
If you get the 53 you'll need something like a 130mm stem to make up for the top tube length that the fits have for you. If you go for the 57 you can stick to the 110m stem and your seat tube will only be a few cm taller. I'd also go with a less funky frame

The geometry chart says the 51cm has a 54.5cm top tube... idk how they measure it since the TT is sloping, but the chart implies that it measures the Horizontal TT.

From what I've read, Dodici's sizing "advice" is pretty random. Their bikes would be a lot more appealing if they were clearer with their sizing and wait times.

Thanks for the reply.
Based on the CF's fit calculator, I'm choosing to go with somewhere between the Eddy and the French fit. I already have a slight hunchback and a perineum busting position is the last thing I want.
Browsing through the builds in Velospace and Pedalroom, I can say that the 55 fits roughly a 5'11 person. Im somewhere around 5'75/5'8. So theoretically a 53 would fit perfect.
I do agree on Dodici being random on their sizing advice. Dude above has the same height but he gets a 53 and I get a 51.
God this is confusing.

But I can ride confortably without any problem!

What sort of frame do you ride now? How does it fit? I'd rather pick a frame size based on that than trust an online fit calculator. Also, be prepared to wait a long time for your frame.

I don't have a bike currently and the last one I had was a LBS beater bike that I had no idea about the size. I'm aware of the long wait times but thanks for reminding.

I wish I could pro fit that sh*t. Sometimes I wish America was next door.
If I was to get a 53, will the differences be major compared to the 51? Major enough to cause problems?

After a couple email with the Dodici rep, this is what he said
I guess I'm good with a 53cm compared to a 51. But just for assurance, will the 2 cm difference in seat tube length affect the ride quality? Will there be a big difference between the two sizes?
Thanks by the way.
I've calculated you size with all your lenghts, and is pretty strange because of seat tube you have a 52, and top tube is a 56!
Our frames have a higher BB so, we usually recommend to take a lower size, in this case 51, as i told you.
But you have pretty long arms and trunk, so maybe a 53 would be better, if you decide for it.

Well, our frames come in size:
47,49,51,53,55,57,59 and 61, so we dont have a 52 size, but you were a 52 of seatpost, so we take off one cm because our bottom bracket is higher that the normal ones, so size should be 51 as i told you.
I also understand that you are looking for a bigger frame because your trunk and arms are longer.
So I might agree with you that 53 maybe is better, but we want to be shure that you will not tell us that the frame is too big, once the frame will be in your hands!
If i were you, i'll go for a 53 btw!
