Product Review: Miche Drivetrain Components on Bianchi Pista

Listen up...

Just got my new Miche Primato Track Cranks installed. 50T chainring, 1/8th inch....Miche Track chain...

It's a hodge-podge of parts, but, some good still can come from all this dialogue..

I'm 6'3'', 200lbs...was 225...

03' Bianchi Pista Frame and Fork, 59cm
Cinelli Alter Stem, 110mm length
Nitto Track Drops
Stock Wheels from factory, Bianchi hubs (winter)
Fir Tubular rims laced to Miche Track hubs, high-flange (track)
Spinergy Spox-2 Front Wheel (track)
Shimano Cheap-0 Bottom Bracket, 68x107, square taper (winters, training)
Miche Primato Track Bottom Bracket, Italian Threaded (part of groupo, can't use on current frame)
Miche Primato Track Cranks, 50T 1/8th chainring
Speedplay Frogs
Dura-Ace 16t Track Cog / Lockring
Serfas Saddle (the one that looks like the Selle Italia SLR)
Vittoria Zaffiro tires, 700x23

Pista Frame and Fork Review

After two years, frame still looks good. The paint has held up well, even through two solid years of riding, commuting, training, and polo. The frame still feels solid, especially at high speed on the velodrome.

Lots of grass riding too, during polo, and lots of low-impact crashes on grass...no problems with frame, fork, or above components.

Only complaint is the rear track ends. I tend to roll with the rear wheel as close to the front of the track end as possible, and, with the high stress placed on the dropouts from me cranking down on them with the wrench, the serrated track nuts, the track ends have started to bend a bit and warp. They straighten out easy, of course, but after re-installing the rear wheel, same old bent track ends. Shouldnt be a big deal...can't see any fractures of dangerous-looking artefacts...

Miche Track Cranks Review

They look hot, installed easily...the chainline is a bit off with the Bianchi hubs and dura ace cog/lockring setup, and the cheapo BB. Shouldn't be enough to cause problems, but, its a bit noticeable. The chainline should solve itself once I get the Fir Tubulars laced up to the Miche Hubs, and a Miche Track Bottom bracket, english threaded...

I'll post more about the cranks after I get a few miles on them.

Speedplay Frogs Review

I haven't heard a lot of track riders rockin' the Frogs...not sure why. I love the Speedplay Road pedals, but I need the recessed, walkable system. They are super light, and the bearings still feel super smooth, and I'm the second owner.

Cinelli Alter Stem Review

Looks hot...glad I found the 110mm version...perfect length for my setup.

Fir Tubulars, Continental Sprinters, Miche Track Hubs Review

Will post more after the build and after a few trips to the track.

AFAIK kenosha is open to all riders all the time, as long as there is not a scheduled event.

Yea, listen up!

Have thought about the Frogs myself and may go that route if and when I need a new set of pedals. You can't beat the float of Speedplays.

How are your Vittoria's? I have the Ronondeaurs (definately spelling mistake there) and love them but find that they are near-impossible to get on and off. Do yours give you an easier time? Do they hold up to the everyday glass, etc.?

I like the vittorias. Like $20 a piece, too, from Marcus. They ARE a BEOTCH to get on and off the rim..they have a super tight bead!

But, haven't flatted yet, knock on wood, and it's held up to my crazy riding.
