Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? CHEAP TRACK CHAINSET (crankset usa)

My flat daily 10 mile commute does'nt require many gears, for mehanical, weight and simplicity reasons...i'm going fixed. I'm gonna buy a convertor for my tiagra 9 spd rear hub. However i have scowered high and low both online and in my LBS for a chainset (crankset) but just can't find anything in my £40-50 range. (-$75)

Will a bmx one work or do they take different B-bracket widths?
I dont really want to update my square taper Shimano 105 BB.

Any suggestions appreciated, cheers.

it depends on which bmx crankset you're asking about. a lot of them take either splined, or really huge square tapers. you could look into one of the truvativ bmx cranks. i was going to get the primo SGT arms a while back, i believe they use the standard square taper, and they're 110bcd.

Lots of people love the Bulletproof cranks and you can find 'em for $35-$40. I have a pair on one of my rides and they're just fine.
