DA and Phil
So in my adventures i have only come across Dura Ace cogs from 13t-16t. Do they not make any with more teeth than that? Does Anybody know if the new Phil cogs that are coming out in a couple months have a bigger range?

Surly makes a large range of cogs. Locally surly are the only cogs I can find above 16t

From what I hear surly cogs have a small threaded area and with skidding they can strip any hubs threads. They are bad with Phil Wood hubs because those hubs are expensive. This is just information that I have gleaned from reading others posts so I may be off target.

surly cogs are good quality ($), the have a wide threaded flange like so...
couldn't tell you anything about the phil hubs cause my bike isn't worth a $200+ rear hub, that just gives a theif one more reason to steal my bike.

Surly cogs are bad because they aren't as wide as other cogs (though that's supposed to be changing Real Soon Now), so they have a greater tendency to strip threads or otherwise not sit properly.

the threads on mine are wide enough that they protrude out over the threaded shoulder of the hub so that my lockring is torqued up right against it.
unless phil hubs have a deeper flange to alow for more lateral adjustment of the cog?

Throwin' in my two cents for Soma cogs...they are noticeably thicker than Surly cogs in tooth cross section...threads seem fine and wear has been great...can be had in 12t-23t.

the bigger problem with surly cogs is that the threads are a different pitch than the threads on the phil hubs, and when you thread a surly cog onto a phil hug, it wears the threads.
and the other problem is that phil hubs have ~1mm more of cog thread than most other hubs.

Dura ace cogs on Suzue hubs suck. I've been threw those.
Surly cogs on surly hub: kick but and not breakable. I've tried too.
