Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Gear Ratio For Riding And Little Skidding/Hopping?

My gear ratio is 46:16 right now, I mostly ride around but I want to be able to skid, so I figured I should change the gear.
What gear ratio is optimal for riding and skidding/hopping? The best of both worlds

Why did you feel the need to create two individual threads about the exact same thing?

So today for lunch I had a bag of popcorn. Don't you just love being a broke college student?

I'm a noob but 46x17 would probably be fine, looks like 71.3 gear inches and 17 skid patches.

Today for lunch I had a smoked ham and Swiss cheese sandwich on sourdough with a chocolate chip cookie and Doritos.
