The FSA Orbit X and IRD TechnoGlide are my favorites in that price point.

I love my technoglide if it helps.

NDS has a lot of resistance as compared to the DS which has become significantly looser since I've had it.

Just wanted to know what I should look into if I decide to replace it somewhere down the line.

Unless you want to shell out big bucks for a Sram Ceramic (which is stupid, imo) or Phil Wood, you could always just replace it with a standard Sram GXP BB.

The spindles are not compatible between Shimano Hollowtech and GXP.

Oh ****...maybe it does have a Shimano-compatible BB. In that case, GXP is out.

No worries, I have the on-one version of it (all other things being identical), so from what I read, it's "shimano compatible".

Yeah, I think you're right. I never really put any thought into whether the spindle/BB was Shimano or Sram.

It's funny, I did a tune up on a cross bike this afternoon and was dreading changing the cables. It was easy as pie and they gave me absolutely no trouble.

The last time I used the 4th hand, I got really frustrated and just threw it in the trash.

I hated mine. I hate working on calipers too. I hate working on anything brake related, really. The only part I like is inserting the cable through the housing, and putting on the ferrules, dunno why.

Only time I've found a fourth hand to be useful is when setting up straddle hangers for old center pulls.

Oh, and on a related note... where can I find a cable hanger for use with a threaded headset that doesn't have a whole ton of flex? Fork mount is not an option, for various reasons.

Hi Scrod, just recently bought a Cinelli Mash which has a 68mm bb shell. The frame came with a Phil Wood bb JIS with a square taper and 108 mm (got it measured from lbs, they said 108mm) spindle. I would prefer to keep the bb instead of buying a new one, do you know any cranksets that can support that bb? Or would it be better for me to find a crankset and then find the bb that fits. I did a search and found Vuelta Pista Track but got bad reviews for 108 mm and it uses ISO instead.

Or maybe the lbs measured wrong and it really isn't 108 mm? Ack, maybe I need to check it again. Numerous google searches can't tell me what cranksets are compatible with a JIS 108 mm.

Would it be ok if I run a crankset that required 107 mm or 110 mm? I know I'm supposed to keep the chainline within 40.2 mm to 42 mm according to Sheldon Brown. Would having a crankset that required a 107 mm give me a chainline of 43 mm? Is that how it works? /bb noob

Phil Wood doesn't make a 108mm JIS BB. I'd bet it's ISO.
