Wheels Mfg make damn fine bearings. That's what I usually have on hand at the shop.

Whoa "Ask Scrod" threads are still here. That's pretty cool.

How's the move to the west coast been? I heard your name come up when a lot of dealers dropped Leader recently (not here to stir the pot) and felt I had to log back in and see if BFSSFG was still the same squad.

Scrod,

i have andel standard track cranks but I need a 48t chainring. I can pickup an Omnium chainring for super cheap but I know they are beefier than most. Will it sit flush on spider and can I use my existing chainring bolts?

Try it. Worst case scenario is that you'll need longer bolts.

That's what I was going to suggest! Our sponsored rider Bojac uses them on his track wheels (the SD Velodrome has a pretty rough outdoor surface). Those same wheels occasionally see street use and they hold up very well.

Newbie question...

Bottom bracket thread size is always a common spec given for frames, but why is the length (spindle length, correct?) of the frame's not usually given? Is there a rule of thumb for buying a bottom bracket for a frame you don't have in front of you to measure the spindle length?

The spindle length has nothing to do with the frame, and is based solely on the particular crankset that you are using.

know of any 36h 650b rims that are 30-35mm wide like the Velocity BluntSS but come in silver? msw/nmsw doesnt matter

unless that rim combo actually does come in silver and the Velocity site is a lie.
