Great new starter bike? PLEASE HELP

I have 400 dollars to spend and I was really looking towards buying a Mercier kilo tt but is there anything better and cheaper? Also if i get a Kilo tt should I change anything on it? It seems like a great bike from everything I read about it on this site. PLEASE HELP AND PLEASE REPLY

    1. Buy Kilo TT
    2. Ride it around
    3. Change parts you don't like
    4. Ride it around more

You might not want to change the same things we will. You'll find out what you don't like when you get it.

Though not better, the Motobecane track is cheaper by 100 bucks. I'm actually considering on getting it soon.

Well, you have $400 so that leaves you with $40 left over.

Not much you can really do in terms of switching something out, I say go for a new cog to accommodate your riding style/where you ride (give the stock ratio a little time before deciding if you need a new one or not), and then save up the rest for a new seat and some pedals.

    Buy Kilo TT.

Replace cog with one more suitable for your fitness level and riding style.
    Replace saddle and pedals ASAP.
Replace stem if you need to.
    Replace tires.

Everything else you can wait on until stuff breaks down. And for christ's sake, figure out what's going to fit BEFORE you buy it.

Two choices, go to an LBS and get a bike that is on closeout. Or, go here: http://www.bikesdirect.com/ The first page as sales, then click on the tabs and browse. Just make sure if you order by mail you know your inseam, jam a book against your crotch then measure from the top of the book to the floor, do this 3 times to make sure you have it right.

Agreed! Currently using a 70mm stem with my bullhorns and only about 4 inches of my seatpost is showing (with fender on, no space for my tail light bracket), and I feel like I could've done a little better if I had chosen a 50cm frame over a 53cm frame. >_> (5'11", 31.5" inseam, evidently I have a short torso because I feel stretched when I ride the horns)

Buy a complete Kilo TT and then replace Everything on it over time.
