So I picked up my first fixed gear
I traded an old Mosh bmx bike for my first fixed gear. Unfortunately I don't have pictures at the moment but I do know the components.
Frame: Needs to be ID'd
Headset: Cane Creek S-8 threadless
Stem: Truvativ Hussefelt (bought after and put on to accommodate the risers )
Bars: Specialized oversized risers (bought after to replace the cheesy drop bars)
Grips: White Oury's
Drivetrain: Origin8 track crank 46t/15t fixed
Saddle: Velo saddle
Wheelset: Front - 26" pearlescent blue rim laced to a Shimano Deore XT hub
Rear- 26" pearlescent blue rim laced to a unknown flip flop hub.
Is it a decent pickup?
I mean to me the trade was worth it, from what i've seen in parts so far. I'm unsure of the frame because since it was repainted a pearlescent blue and covered in Campy Victory stickers which i'm sure aren't original.
Personally I love the bike, though I have a different vision for it. Only problems i've had so far is that I spun the crank and stripped the left arm riding to work. I'm kind of a big guy and I was looking to pick up a crank that might be a bit more heavy duty.

These .gifs are excellent, and I apologize aha i'm just a bit new to the boards.
As i was riding to work, I started feeling the left arm get wobbly. I stopped and tried to retighten the crank bolt. Kept riding and then I noticed it again, looked at it and did the same thing. Trying to power across the street to beat traffic, I felt the pedal just drop when I put force to it, nearly ate ****. Looked at it quick when I got across and then one legged it the rest of the way. Seems I snapped the bolt and then spun the crank arm around the square taper, rounding the square bracket on the crank arm. I was livid.

What's your budget for a new crankset and bottom bracket? Sucks to have something decently expensive fail just as you're taking ownership of it
Oh. Almost forgot to gif.

Right now, from looking at the spindle and the arm. I can salvage the spindle because it wasn't rounded down, though the arm sure as hell was. I found replacement Origin8 arms online for about $15 bucks. I'd just need to get some new crank bolts. In the future i'd like to upgrade it when I completely redo the bike. Any suggestions on some beefy solid cranksets? I'm a lot heavier than the average rider and I want something that will stand up to it.

I know Sugino 75s and Omniums have a good reputation and lots of people here ride them. I've been using a set of Shimano 600 cranks (the predecessor to Ultegra) and they've done a great job. You can't really get high end track chainrings in 130bcd though so you should consider things with 144 bcd.

The rounded out arm and the bike (sorry for the low quality)
I was looking into the Sugino cranksets when I was going to build one, but I ended up getting this instead.

I figured as much. It was a conversion. I plan on getting comfortable with riding and whatnot with it, and then progressing to a better bike.
Gotta start somewhere.
