That Kalavinka is actually owned by a friend of mine that did some design work for them and had that built for him in return. It is a chromed frame that is sprayed only from the side, leaving the center line chrome with the paint fading into it.

Or you could be a badass about chain length and tooth count. Or could just get a tensioner.

seriously dude, be nice. That bike was designed by Dimitris Katsanis who is an accomplished racer and engineer.

they are probably the most aerodynamically advanced bikes to ever grace this earth. While that may not mean much to the "looks cool" crowd, that bike is a serious engineering marvel.

But both the IOC, and the UCI, also have a philosophy that the athlete should not only be paramount, but that technology should influence sports as little as possible. The UCI’s noble ideal behind its rules is to keep the sport accessible to all, limiting the role of money and technology in creating a performance advantage. The irony in Team GB’s black, logo-less bicycles is that while they conform to the letter of the UCI rules, they make a mockery of the spirit. The UCI’s rules have successfully hemmed in traditional manufacturers to a degree, but it’s far less clear that it’s done anything to limit well-funded groups that have no commercial interest.

You can buy the track gear team GB was using in the London Olympics here:
https://www.uksport.gov.uk/pages/cycling/
The only problem is there is no specified price... I guess if you have to ask, you can't afford it.
What confuses me is that I thought Shimano had done quite extensive biomechanical RD for Biopace and found that - counterintuitive as it may be - the elliptical chainring should be elliptical 90 dergees off of what's on that bike. The logic was that the longest ratio should not on the downstroke but rather at the dead spot, the reason being that it harnesses the leg speed inertia built during the downstroke. I guess elliptical chainrings are just confusing no matter what.

Top level sports is all about the letter of rules. If there's a way to go faster and follow the letter, no one competing seriously is going to give a rat's ass about the spirit. Such is the world of professional commercial sports, like it or not.

Carleton: ok. Any idea about the components? Or is that for complete (I have no idea about the price of those things).
For clarity's sake: my comment above re: letter and spirit is aimed at seau grateau's quote, not you. Was wrinting it when you posted.
