Single Speed project - what do you think?
Large pics to follow.
I currently have a stock 2009 Bianchi Pista that i end up not riding very much...but i think could make a great commuter as a SS.
So:
I have this rear brake adapter & a set of SRAM Force Brakes.
I wouldn't necessarily bet my life on this brake setup - I see it as something "extra."
And these to follow:
Nitto Noodle Road Bars
Livery aero 1'' threaded fork:
Some standard brake levers.
Polished Bronze headset:
Nitto Stem:
Opinions?

why pay so much to convert to threaded? it's just your uggo commuter. also, force brakes? seems kind of a waste, especially with the rear bridge mod necessary. give them to me. i'd just keep it fixed with a front brake. but that's just me.
at the very least, you're not going to want that nitto stem. it has too much rise.

- riding in NYC can be nuts, and it's nice to have a second brake, even if i were to keep it a FG
- i'd like to run a freewheel.
why force brakes?
i had Force and Red on my other two bikes.
The Red bike got a set of lightweight brakes, so the Force bike got the Red brakes, and by default the Force brakes get handed down to the Bianchi.
I could keep the stock threadless stem and just swap the handlebars, it's just that it's ugly and seems out of place on the bike.

I think it'll look really good. Clearly this isn't a budget build, so I don't know why anybody's worried about why you're opting for certain things.
That rear brake will look odd though.

Looks like you are just fishing for compliments and don't really want a critique. Why don't you just complete the build and then post it in the sticky thread for photos.

I have no experience converting from threadless --> threaded, and i was hoping that if there were any pitfalls or problems with it, someone would chime in.

i didnt want to say this but: your bike still will not be bike porn.
but it'll be neat to see you spend all this money to get all these parts on this frame and end up looking like you did it on a kilo tt.

Sure, the pitfall is that you'll have to spend a lot of money for a new fork, new headset and new stem. All of this for purely aesthetic reasons.

That is a wise choice. Those bridges were never designed for mounting brakes, and lack the needed reinforcements and bolt mounting boss. Also, you would not be able to use those brakes, since they require a recessed bolt mount. So if you do intend to use a rear brake, then that adapter is the correct way to do it.

Or else get a different bike.

everyone is ****ting on that adapter, but i've seen it in person and know people who have used it and have nothing bad to say about it. it's a quality product, and the OP says he already owns it, so why the hell wouldn't he use it?

Sell it and buy a vintage road bike to convert IMO, it seems like it's more in line with what you're trying to do. The pista is a track bike / theft magnet
