Nah, I like your style. I'd rather be angry about it (and use that anger for productivity) then not care at all.
Food standards are horrendous in the U.S. (like healthcare, education, etc.), especially the FDA/USDA and things like GMO's. It's to the point where it's not just bad, but actually evil. Aspartame is a great example of an additive that tested badly, giving monkeys problems like brain tumors, yet was approved because of government/business ties. And it's in almost every chewing gum I've seen at stores. Not a lot of other countries in the world get down like that, but corporate greed and the essentially unified goviness or busirnment system in the U.S. is a perfect breeding grounds for it.
Concentrated feeding operations are another great example, but I won't get into that.
I don't mess with milk period for various reasons, who else drinks milk past childhood and drinks the milk of another species? I think it's only humans.
Basically, you want things packaged by nature, like fruits and vegetables. If it's packaged by humans, it's much more likely to be bad for you.

Lately I've been having an apple as soon as I wake up, ideally with peanut butter. Then around lunch time I essentially make an omelette in a low carb tortilla. Consists of an egg, ham or bacon, onions, bell peppers and spinach. Cooked in butter. Around dinner time I have something that has a make up of a double single burger at in n out (Protein, carbs and fat wise). I try to have around 2 cups of water before and during each meal. I've been keeping my activity level the same and been losing weight at a steady rate of 2-4 lbs a week.
Not ideal for everyone but it keeps my hunger pains down, I have a good amount of protein, and have at most 80 grams of carbs. I'm usually under and I try to have the majority of my carbs to have a lower glycemic load as well.
You guys should check out intermittent fasting too, didn't realize that that was what I was doing while I was wrestling in high school and never had to worry about cutting weight.

if i could still get raw milk...ah well. growing up on the farm i'd have raw milk still warm from the cow with bread that my grandmother had just taken from the oven. heaven. once you mess with it though....bleh.
yep, can't have raw milk, but the government says you can eat all the Franken-corn you want.....

What do you guys like to eat during the ride, besides gels, goop, and other crap like that?
One of my faves is to take an avocado, split it in half, put some tuna from a can in the pit hole and squeeze some lemon juice over it....so good, and super energy packed food. I usually have more space than just jersey pockets of saddle bag though.

This thread= inspiration. Just picked this up from the library, will try to read most b4 its due back. Hope to make some positive changes. I'm not terribly worried about my diet, as I know I eat pretty good* and am young and skinny. However, I would love to have some ammo when nutrition related discussions come up at work and stuff. I am pretty heavy on the healthy lifestyle advocation but dont have a lot of talking points when it comes to food.
*Except for when I eat crap, at which time I fully acknowledge that I am eating crap. Not often, but I do very much enjoy choc chip cookies, oreos (OMG!) Jack in the Box and PIZZA**.
** Pizza more often than i'd like to admit.

Still kicking.
Didn't have my usual morning meal of granola and yogurt the past two days, and it just did not feel right.

there's only few things i do as regards nutrition. these have been of great use.
i look at the calorie label on the foods i eat, i also look at the serving size because the calorie label amount is deterimined by the serving size. and i try to keep in mind some of the basic foods and their calorie count per unit of measure. like one tablespoon of oil (any kind, they are all about the same caloriewise) and a tablespoon of sugar (this is because i cook a lot). and finding low calorie foods that i like has also helped.
