New fixie rider .... toe clips or flat pedal ?

Title says it all, other than purchasing a track wheel i put the bike together with parts that were here already including a brake i do have a set of both pedals so it is not like having to go buy something.

Toe clips, and if you don't like the feeling of the toe clips you can try those straps the freestyle guys use with flat pedals. Either way you must have your feet securely attached to the pedals for your own good.

Platforms are OK with a brake, but you'll enjoy the ride a lot more with some sort of foot retention. You will have much better control of the bike. You'll only be doing yourself a favor.

I say freestyle straps some reloads, ynots burros or holdfasts. I used a bunch of different kind of straps/cages and like fgfs straps better.

One cheap option can be attaching plastic toe clips to the platform pedals (looks like BMX style platform pedals in your picture). I have relatively large feet and wanted something comfortable so I bought some $7 plastic clips/nylon straps from REI and was able to attach it to some BMX pedals. Doesn't look as nice but I prefer the comfort and larger size.

Clips and straps are really cheap. The holdfast style straps, not so much. Pick up a set of clips and straps, if you dont like them look into the holdfasts.

Clips and straps suck. Can't say much about fgfs straps never used the. Get clipless and a pair of shoes.

You have hand brake so try both and ride what you like. I like platforms because I like to move my foot around depending on cadence. It's a little bit simpler too. Just make sure you have reasonably grippy pedal/shoe combo if you go that route.

Fattie straps, bmx platforms with pins, or clipless. I think clips and straps are the lamesauce.
