So
I have this pile of parts.
And some pretty cool
Tools.
Dear god, what have I done?
Made it this far, before I realized I was at a point where clean hands would be mission critical.
Add some white platforms, some highlighter yellow bartape, a different seat, run the cables and this bastard is done.

"mad wonk" sounds almost as ridiculous as that saddle looks all forward like that.
very cool workspace and tools but IMO those parts would be better on a big shot bike and that frame would be better suited by a restoration or at least road parts.

Frame was all kinds of rusty which is what got me down the path of wire brushing it. This is a coop, other than the [generic ass amazon] wheels, the bar tape, post and headset most everything is recycled or salvaged. I've got maybe $150 in this thing.
The yellow housing came off some rusty huffy on the rack outside, and from there I went looking for the complementary parts.

Holy crap that is bright.
I'm a super big fan of silver, lugged steel frames, but my favorite combination of parts for said frame is brown tape, black tires, brown saddle, regular colored everything else (e.g. wheels, chain).
In this case, I think the yellow clashes too much with all the white, and I'd like the tape a lot more with black tires/wheels, since I do have a soft spot for obnoxiously colored tape.
So I must admit that this is not my cup of tea. But! Cool bike. I'm glad you like it.

Those pedals are some ancient looks I have two pairs of. Pretty solid platform on one side, delta cleat on the other.
Agreed on the white, think I might go blackwall tires, put on my silver chain, and once I get an ISO bottom bracket, I'll toss my black campy cranks on there. Might anchor it all a little better.

Finally got it out- landed a 1" reynolds full carbon fork (already lopped off about 1" of the steerer, I think I'll leave it like this, it's not long for this bike) with FSA cartridge headset for $80 on craigslist and scored a seemingly perfect pair of continental supersport 100s behind a local bike shop while on a tube mission for the coop-
Then I got home and tossed on the serfas seat that came with my cross bike-
I love this thing, I really should have gone single speed/fixed sooner, I'd forgotten that WHOOOOOSH of a solid, quiet bike.
I think I might just let it rust, it'll match the sidewall of the tires nicely. Still waiting on the ISO bottom bracket to get my black campy cranks on there. Then I'll toss the siver chain on and be done. At least until I get sick of that and put my pursuit bars on.

I've been oscillating between those platforms and those looks I have in the inside pictures. Platforms for kicking around the flats of town, clipless for actually riding for some level of fitness.
Wow, it was hard to find a pic of these online-
I have two pairs. Might just stick with those, there's actually a pretty sizable platform on the bottom and the reflector isn't a horrible thing to have I guess. Takes a standard delta cleat.
