Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Old video (props to you if you watch TED talks, I love them). This will stem a stupid discussion. Thread should be closed now.

Most people will read the title and still not understand the whole talk.

I watched this video when it first came out. It struck me as being a poor argument for not wearing a bicycle helmet, but a pretty good argument for wearing a helmet in the car.

Much like politics, sex and religion - helmets are a magnet for bull****.

I'd recommend reporting this thread as I intend to do. While the video is interesting, the nonsensical ****storm that will follow is moot.

Wish there was a study on "aggressive" urban riding an helmet use, specifically crashes 15-30mph involving vehicular contact and avoidance crashes. Bet the numbers would favor helmets.
