1st time poster introduction + bike check!

Hi all, just introducing myself to the forum. I've been lurking this place for a bit, just without an account but decided to do so recently.
Here's a quick glimpse of my Kilo TT. At the moment it's not exactly complete due to a lack of a complete headset. I picked up the cranks, frame, and fork all for $100. The rest was slowly built over a few weeks.
Frame: Kilo TT
Fork: Stock
Cranks: Truvativ Stock
Pedals: Stock w/ Origin 8 double straps
Chain: TaYa 1/8"
Wheels: Maillard Track hubs laced to Araya tubulars
Tires: Continental Sprint Tubulars
Seat Post/ Saddle: SR Laprade Seatpost and a Fizik Arione saddle
Stem/ Bars: Uno stem with some serious amount of drop/rise and some generic bullhorns.

The bars do look like they extended far out but in reality they aren't. The pictures make them look ridiculous though.
Better pictures to come soon! i hope....

Sorry for the crappy phone pictures and the half built bike. It will soon be done i promise!!!

That stem is crazy. Cool bike though.

I hope you don't get a flat. Putting tubulars on a Kilo is pretty badass though, honestly.

Why thank you sir. In the case I do get a flat I'll probably bus it home. These tires are soon to be thrown out though and I'll probably switch back to my clincher set.

Actually flats can be dealt with pretty easy, in my opinion, a little bit more effort as patching a tube permanently/ properly; costs more through compared to your typical patch kit. The key word here is tubular tire sealant.

Here's a guide from our very own JohnDthompson. https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...ar-tire-repair

You got a good deal, props on that.
I'm guessing the stem and bar angles are just for looks? Bar and stem need work.

Its not a stem 'with rediculous drop' its a generic MTB riser stem flipped on top of a big spacer stack. A straight stem slammed with no spacers would look better. Pursuit bars that are falling forward are like road bars angled really far upwards.

+1 - Flipped riser stem no equals nitto jag stem.

I'd love to give tubulars a try some day. Props to you and welcome to BFSSFG! Kiss your productivity and disposable income goodbye

hahaha! I actually found the stem in an unused parts bin i had in the garage. And when i saw the stem I thought, "Nitto Jaguar!!" I know it's lame but I guess in theory the drop would be the same as placing the stem further down the steerer tube? And my productivity is waayyy below average. And my bike is like a spouse, takes all my money just to look beautiful.

Precisely sir. When I started putting the bike together alot of what I had in mind was the look of the bike and not really thinking about how it would feel during the ride. not to mention i haven't even ridden the bike due to the lack of parts. But i see what you mean on the goofy looking angles of the stem and bars. But I'm going to give it a try, I have never ridden bullhorns in my life.

Sounds like you should have chosen a partner more carefully.

It's alright, I rode it for the first time today and boy am I happy. The geometry is unlike any i have ridden. I've been riding a janky conversion set up for a little over a year now so this feels quite different. Not to mention I've been riding bmx for 7 years which really doesn't help with my form in riding.

Nooo, why would people do that? Then how could they stereotypically complain about their marriages all the time?

You should have tried the old silk sew ups if you wanted to have a track tire that's a hassle on the road.
