carbon safe brake pad help

i'm helping a friend piece together a bike build. he's getting wheels with a carbon braking surface.

i'm having a hard time figuring out cartridge compatibility.

the problem is he wants good pads that won't wreck the rims. but he doesn't want to spend big money on the calipers.

something like the tektro r540 would be fine, but i can't figure out what carbon specific pads are good, and fit the shoes.

I run Swissstop Yellow's on my roadie w/ S80's.

They can stop on a dime paired with my DA calipers; costs an arm and a legs through but its expected if you're running carbon.

****Yes these are compatible with tektro brake pad holders; they're shimano clones in the first place anyhow.

~~You should ask around the 41 for more opinions as I there's going to be a much greater number of members running carbon wheelsets.

just looking for the cheapest calipers that have cartridge shoes that are compatible with good carbon specific pads.
