Philly Satisfying Saturday

OK eveyone- here it is- the official Saturday Ride thread. For those of you new to the Philly Saturday ride, we meet at the Italian Fountain in the back of the Art Museum (opposite side of the building from the Rocky Stairs). We then take Kelly Drive along the river through Manayunk and onto the Schuylkill River Trail up to Valley Forge. After the return trip, we like to refuel with some burritos at Qdoba on Penn's Campus before all going home for a well deserved nap (see how it's satisfying?)

Specs-
Where: Italian Fountain Behind The Art Museum
When: Usually Meet at 11am
Who: All are welcome, the pace is set by who shows up. But if you never rode before, I wouldn't recommend this as a first ride!
Why: 'Cause we're tough!
Total trip: about 45 miles
Total time: budget about 4 hours

This week, the Satifiying Saturday ride will be a little different. Saturday is Christmas... does that mean we won't ride- HELL NO. Ain't no arbitrary holiday celebrating the birth of Santa Claus or whatever it's about gonna stop the Philly Phixies. So here's the deal with Satisfying Saturday this week....

We're gonna have to do this a little earlier because I'm sure most of us have obiligations. BUT, my first obligation is to ride my BIKE! So...

When: 9am
Where: Italian Fountain behind the art museum

We'll try to be done by 1pm. Then we can all shower (not together, unless we REALLY bond over this experience) and go see our families and stuff- knowing that we spat in the face of tradition and earned our wassail.

Weather.com says High 32 Low 20, Partly cloudy, with a 10% chance of Precipitation. Sounds like some good Christmas riding weather to me... but we've been screwed by Weather.com in the past, so stay tuned for any major changes...

I'd like to get a RSVP together for this so we can prudly display our toughness (and so I know I'm not the only idiot that will be doing this...).

So- WHO'S WITH ME**********?

YAY! I'll be there Thursday to get my present (and it better be good!). PLUS anyone who comes out on Christmas gets 150 points (that should take care of my minus 50 and still put me ahead of you stet).

we don't need your voice, just your legs.

i had a little bike accident on sunday so i probably only good for the first leg of journey again. almost got hit by two cars. it was so close. i fell on my hip and slid for several feet. cold and scary. just laid there with my face on the asphalt. uh.

Woaw, I hope you're OK will_travel.

And let me just say for the record that I announced that I would not be there this Tuesday due to my commitment to ROCK! I was totally on tour! So I'm all for giving people hard times, but dammit I WANT MY PRESENT! Every once in a while the Gods of Rock and Roll call upon me to forgo my earthly commitments and serve the higher power of METAL!

OK, so no one will ride with me tomorrow (boo hoo). Christmas Satisfying Saturday is officially cancelled (losers). I guess I'll just have to go for a brisk 5 mile run instead. My bike is getting sad.

OK, so Christmas was a bust. Is anyone up for a New Year's Day Satisfying Saturday? I'm sure there will be much protest due to people's mental state from the night before... but if there's any chance you guys are willing to suck it up and the weather isn't horrid, let's get a ride in! RSVP here to let me know what the support looks like.

Hope to see you all again real soon, I'm going through bike-buddy withdrawl over these holidays!

HOORAY!

Iron helps us play!

Weather forecast for Saturday, Jan 1:

60 freaking degrees! F the mummers, drunk and festooned is ok, but drunk, festooned and sweating profusely is just plain wrong. Let them salt their feathers and sequins, we'll represent and rock to the VF.

if we leave at 1pm it will probably be getting dark for the return trip (no fun). If we leave at 11 (as usual) we (I) will be very sleepy. let's split the difference-

OFFICAL RIDE SPECS:
Time: 12 noon
place: italian fountain behind the art museum

DO IT!

60 deg!?!?!?! can you pass this up!?
