Finished first fixed gear build, how much is okay in the dropouts?

Finished first fixed gear build, how much is okay in the dropouts?
Just finished setting up my first fixed gear build today. Rides great! Currently, the rear axle is about 1/2 from the open end of the dropout(so an inch in from center of axle post). Is this too close to the end of the dropout to be safe?
I took it out for a few miles on hills & flats and it all seemed okay. But since fixed is a new animal to me, I am being overly cautious.
I think if I added another link, I'd be at the rear of the dropout and risk not being tight chained.

As long as your axle nuts are completely biting metal, you should be fine.

Oy, this will require the hubs computer. Just a sec. iPads are great until you need a C:drive to browse.

maybe try use a half-link chain, gives you tighter space
