Shoes for clips!
 

I'm posting this here cause I know a lot of fixie types are into the clips-and-straps thing.

I noticed that Nashbar is selling a few models of Duegi road shoes designes specifically for clips and straps. They're running like 20-25 dollars. Most of them look pretty cool, too. It seems like a good way to have a proper setup with clips and straps! Plus I guess it beats trying to figure out which sneakers fit into the clips the best.

I'm thinking about picking some up.

the only thing that has stopped me has been their description....

"A thin gull-length insert provides maximum pedaling efficiency for bike messengers and other adventurous types."

just sounds cheesy.....but the shoe looks dope...

I find that my running shoes deform, don't know how to explain it but they kind look like I dug my foot into the ground and pushed sideways against my foot away from me. I usually stick with whatever I wear for BMX (Vans and Globes right now) or Pumas.

Good luck walking around with that massive cleat and wood soles on the Duegis.

I don't think that those shoes have wooden soles....

Nice heads up, I could use a pair of those. Sad thing is, I don't think most people here understand slotted cleats and clips and straps. A nightmare to walk in but that's not what they are for.

...and most cycling shoes made for cycling have bottoms that are not to cool to walk on for distances more than a couple of blocks....and as far as having a few drinks and walking around....forget about it....

cause you're right, they are made for cycling, not walking around...

i picked up these a couple of months ago, a retro cycling shoe. i can ride all day or walk around all day or work in em' they're that comfy....

they are just too many retro cycling shoes out now to wear cycling shoes that are designed for cleats

I haven't liked/afforded many bike shoes, so I just rocked these and loved every minute of it...

Old skool but I swear by these

Puma has a new retro/classic remake of their olympic cyclist shoe on their website. The model name is "ventoux". These might be my next pair of kicks, although I still love rocking the adidas superstar 1's (the originals baby!).

Hmm... Too bad they cost more than either of my bikes.

I'm also rocking the tourins like ch0mb0, mine are red on red however...

what are some other ones? and what brand are those?

I believe it's called the Tuscany, and you might still find a pair at Footlocker or similar sporting good places. If not, they'll be back on the shelves in a few months.

There's also several diff't versions of it too (colors, materials, etc.) but basically it's the same design.

I wear the Samba or TopSalas with platform pedals too. They have that torsion arch thing to make the midsole of the shoe not flex when you're cranking.

Those shoes karmical linked are pretty nice too. They have the a plastic shank running through them for the same reason.

Sambas where made for indoor soccer, right? I would think that the balls of the feet flex a good amount- the gum rubber doesen't seem to be stiff enough.
Does Adidas' Torsion Arch thing really help the shoe to stay stiffer where you need it- in the ball to the arch?

Are there any shoes of this sort that aren't totally covered in cow?

they're not specifically for riding, but i usually wear Asics Onitsuka Tigers. most of the models are completely synthetic, the soles are pretty stiff, and the toes are somewhat narrow which makes it easy to get in and out of clips...

Not as much as a regular cycling shoe, but compared to my Vans, there's a noticable difference. YMMV, depending on your tastes.

Since we are talking shoes, how good are the cheaper shoes like these?
