Is This Duratec a Steal?

Here's the craiglist post.

It's a T8, and the T9 is listed as 1400+ euros on the site. Is the deal that fantastic? I'm hoping I could even lowball to 400, since bikes rarely get bites around here.

I saw your other post and was going to comment.

I know nothing about duratec, but a lot of the other parts alone almost add up to $400. Assuming those are Sugino 75's, Suzue Hubs, Dura Ace chainring and cogs (if usable). Tubular rims and tires though, so be aware of that.

Great to race around town in one of the 25 place in the United States that has a velodrome.

I'd be intrigued. But I don't ride tubulars.

I'm very interested in this bike but don't want to run into any unforeseen problems, so I'd appreciate everyone's help.
My main question is whether or not I can put clinchers on this track bike and have it ride the same.
Also, any other issues with using it as a street bike behind the relatively fragile aluminum?

it's pretty uggo, but i'd get it if you like how it looks and it fits. you can just sell the tubs and put a clincher wheelset on there.

Hm, and then if I wanted a front brake I'd need a new fork or need to drill it. What does an LBS charge for that (if they do it)?

I'll call those shops in the morning and let you know. Any other question while I have them on the phone?

Ask them if there's a place to get huevos rancheros nearby. That way I he can go get a hearty breakfast while he's waiting for the shop to drill his fork.

Haha sorry, I knew my LBSs would be closed by the time I could call, so I hoped some of you might be able to give a ballpark figure. But I actually checked with the owner, and it is drilled for a brake. So I'm probably gonna jump on it for $500, with the extra FSA + generic chainring and the dura ace cogs, all of which I'll sell on CL or ebay (plus the wheelset). I'll probably end up grabbing some Deep V/Formulas from velomine for rims. Thanks everyone!

I'll stop by this restaurant. If you do a 180, you'll be looking at my LBS.
