Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

No, but you can simply cinch those straps tight as they were meant to be..... Now you're really clipped in.

If you want clipless, the Lake MX300 is the storm trooper winter boot I use.

i wear combat boots in the winter with clips,
clipless, you could get a pair of boots cheap, cut the hole in the sole and glue a clipless sole from old shoes under the insole
i did this to an old pair of converse all stars, over 1000 miles and still going.

Vibrams are 2 layer, and could be modified. But if you go that route, make sure your shoe repair person knows what s/he is doing. If s/he isn't already familiar with clipless, go to great lengths to educate him/her (perhaps borrow a friend's shoe and pedal so as to illustrate). This is especially important if you are replacing the sole, because new soles have to be cut to size and it would be best to mount clipless hardware after they have been cut (but before they have been stitched).
